News and excitement have died down since the most recent Procreate update. We are seeing fewer and fewer articles since the update, so has it lost its hype? I don't think so.
In this article about the new update, released in late September 2020, we learned about all of the new features of the app. From the long-awaited onion-skinning animation assist to a new, more user-friendly way to create your preferred canvas sizes, this update was huge. With over 100 new features added to the app, our lives as artists and creators just got a lot easier. Among my favorites are how much more I can personalize my brushes I create and the reference window. I have been using that a lot when creating drafts for brand logos where I use a reference image.
"This is the update you've been waiting for. Welcome to Procreate® 5, the biggest release we've ever given birth to. With hundreds of exciting new features and quality of life improvements we're going to need that epidural, these forceps, and where are you going with those scissors?!" - Procreate 5 Update Release Notes
After toying around with the app for a few weeks now, I have decided that I really like the new update. It has really changed the game for digital art. It is easy to use, powerful, and delivers results like never before. As soon as Procreate can create a way to have rasterized and vector graphics, I will be one happy camper!
While the app has made significant updates to some people's art creation, we are realizing that this update has opened a lot of new doors for us as creators. I will definitely be taking a look at that new animation assist feature. August Honey Design won't change much, but there might be some new tutorials surrounding animation as I start learning myself.
