Image that says Happy Birthday Procreate. 10 years of the app, what's new?

Procreate is 10 years old this year, which is wild! It feels like just yesterday this app was first coming out. There have been a lot of exciting changes to the app over the last decade, and there are a lot of good changes to come.

Procreate over the years

10 years is a lot of time to grow and change, especially with the technological advancements that have occurred in just the last few years. Procreate definitely hasn't shied away from using new technology to improve. This article from Procreate includes the stories of the people who helped get Procreate off the ground is really interesting and includes some really good information as to what changed since it's beginning.

Greatest changes to the Procreate app

Some of the most influential changes to the Procreate app happened in just the last 5-6 years. In 2015, Apple released the first iPad Pro and Apple Pencil.

This changed the app, because now, instead of using your finger or a 3rd party stylus, you now had pressure control. A whole new world of digital illustration just opened up! Since day one, Procreate has only had one goal: to improve the app. And celebrating their 10 year birthday was the perfect time to come up with some great updates.

The future of Procreate

With such large changes happening in just 10 years, we can only assume that even bigger changes are coming. Recently, Procreate tweeted "Hey, friends! We’re looking to talk to artists with disabilities who experience accessibility issues with #Procreate - we want to make our app better for you! If that’s you, and you’re happy to answer a few questions for us, please send a DM". This is huge, as a lot of digital art companies don't go out of their way to make sure that their app is accessible to everyone.

It's safe to say that there are big things coming soon. If you liked this post, make sure to share it! Next week there will be a new freebie coming, so keep your eyes out for that.
